Akin Gump entertainment partner P. John Burke has been quoted by Los Angeles Times in the article “Hollywood faces huge losses from coronavirus. Can the insurance industry bail it out?”

The article looks at the impact of the coronavirus on Hollywood, and discusses the uncertainties regarding the extent to which insurance policies will be able to aid film and television companies with production delays or cancellations during the COVID-19 pandemic.

Burke believes that major studios may be responsible for most of the cost. “When you have delays like this, it definitely will create a production cost overrun,” he said. “But the studios are going to bear those costs for the most part.”
