Pratik Shah, co-head of the Supreme Court and appellate practice at Akin Gump, was quoted by The National Law Journal in the story “Who's in the Mix to Serve as U.S. Solicitor General?” The article discusses possible choices by President-elect Donald Trump to serve as his administration’s top lawyer before the Supreme Court.
The article notes that, no matter who is selected, the culture and traditions of the solicitor general’s office make it unlikely that the rest of the small office will change very much. Shah, a former assistant to the SG said, “The solicitor general’s office is a place where stability reigns.” In the lower ranks, he added, there was “remarkably little change” when a new administration of a different party came in.
