Reuters Quotes Alan Yanovich on Novel WTO Appeal

Akin Gump international trade partner Alan Yanovich was quoted by Reuters for its article “Turkey uses rare clause to appeal EU pharmaceuticals case at WTO.”
The article discusses Turkey’s employment of a little-used appeal method at a time when the World Trade Organization’s top appeals chamber, the Appellate Body, is not functioning due to the Trump administration’s move to block new appointments to it.
Yanovich, who spent 12 years as a counselor at the Appellate Body, said of Turkey’s use of an alternative to the dispute process, “We’ll definitely see more of these ad hoc appeal arrangements. This is a positive development for the system.”
