The Computer & Internet Lawyer has published the article “Accessible and Affordable Broadband Is Essential to Modernized American Infrastructure,” written by Akin Gump communications and information technology practice head Jennifer Richter, counsel Steven Rowings, and associates Virginia Hiner and Preston Wise.

The article, which originated as an Akin Gump client alert, discusses President Biden’s proposed infrastructure package, which, the authors say, “equates the need for broadband with the country’s efforts to electrify rural areas in the 1930s and would allocate $100 billion for broadband deployment.” The article examines the plan’s funding priorities and also discusses some of its proposed investments, noting that they are aimed at “supporting research and development, workforce development, manufacturing, and regional economic development, with a significant focus on the technology sector.”
