The Hill Quotes Ed Pagano on Biden Approval Post-SOTU

For its article “White House hopes for light at the end of its tunnel,” The Hill quoted Akin Gump public law and policy partner Ed Pagano on reception of President Joe Biden’s State of the Union address and of his Supreme Court nominee.
Pagano, who served in the Obama administration as Senate Liaison and Deputy Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs, said of the plan to combat inflation that he outlined during the State of the Union, “I think they have a plan, and we have to see how things develop but there does feel like there is a light at the end of the tunnel, and there’s not a train coming at us.”
On the contrast between the unity shown by Congress at the State of the Union when the President discussed Ukraine and its criticism last year over Afghanistan, Pagano said, “It’s a combination of things coming together. He has the foreign policy experience for Ukraine, he’s united NATO. He’s kind of been able to point out publicly what the plan was for an invasion before it happened with Putin and I think that transparency has helped.”
On the confirmation for the President’s Supreme Court nominee Judge Ketanji Brown Jackson, he said, “I do think she’s been well-received, and that the nomination will definitely unite the Democrats and has been very good for the base and the party, which needed to be shored up, I think, in the wake of the stall in Build Back Better.”
