Verhoff, Siddiqui Quoted by The Hill on GOP, Dems Conventions

The Hill has quoted Akin Gump practitioners regarding the recently concluded Democratic National Convention and the ongoing Republican National Convention.
“‘Trump show’ convention sparks little interest on K Street,” quoted Akin Gump public law and policy senior advisor Geoffrey Verhoff on the change in format necessitated by the coronavirus pandemic. Verhoff said, “My hope is that in the future we don’t do away with everything, but instead do this in a more tailored way that is more effective and better suited to our world.”
One change he hoped for involved the traditional length of party conventions: “[F]our-night conventions, which end up being five- or six-night conventions, which take over a city and a lot of times leave a lot of merchants in that city more upset than happy — those can end.”
Meanwhile, in “Virtual convention format gains fan base on K Street,” The Hill quoted public law and policy partner Arshi Siddiqui on the outcome of the Democrats’ convention: “The convention exceeded expectations in every way that counts. I cannot remember a time when Democrats were more unified or more determined.”
