WorldECR Publishes Akin Gump Article on Expansion of EU’s Russia Sanctions

WorldECR magazine has published “Russia sanctions: EU expands sanctions following alleged diversion of Siemens turbines,” an article written by Akin Gump international trade partners Wynn Segall and Jasper Helder and counsel Chiara Klaui.
The article discusses six new designations made by the Council of the European Union “to the list of persons subject to restrictive measures in respect of actions undermining or threatening the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine.” The move, as the authors note, follows allegations that a Russian state-owned entity, beginning this past July, “unlawfully diverted four Siemens gas power plant turbines to Sevastopol.”
Segall, Helder and Klaui add that the designations demonstrate “that the EU continues to actively monitor and enforce its sanctions against persons who undermine the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, and/or undermine the EU’s nonrecognition policy with respect to Russia’s annexation of Crimea and Sevastopol.”
