Rubin joins tax team led by former House Ways & Committee Chairman Kevin Brady ahead of 2025 tax cliff

(Washington D.C.) Akin announced today that Lauren Rubin has joined the firm as senior counsel in the lobbying & public policy practice in Washington, D.C. focusing on tax policy. Rubin brings a unique combination of experience in government affairs, corporate advocacy and legislative strategy that will add depth to the firm’s tax policy practice at a critical time in advance of the 2025 tax cliff.

Rubin joins the firm from Washington Council Ernst & Young where she advised Fortune 100 clients and designed advocacy strategies to advance federal and global tax policy priorities. She also brings extensive Capitol Hill experience, serving most recently as legislative director and tax counsel for former New Democrat Chair Rep. Suzan DelBene (D-WA), a senior member of the House Ways and Means Committee.

Rubin enhances Akin’s deep tax policy bench which includes former House Ways and Means Committee Chair Kevin Brady (R-TX), as well as former tax counsel to Senator Robert Portman (R-OH) and architect of the 2017 international tax provisions Zach Rudisill, and former House Ways and Means Select Revenue Measures subcommittee staff director Jeff McMillen.

“Coming off our strongest quarter to date, Akin’s policy practice continues to see increased demand from clients preparing for a new administration and a new congress that will have to address tax policy as a first order of business,” said Hunter Bates, co-head of Akin’s lobbying & public policy practice. “Lauren’s experience in the public and private sectors, along with her track-record of designing winning strategies and her reputation for building bipartisan coalitions while engaging key stakeholders will make her an enormously valuable addition to our practice.”

“Akin offers its tax policy clients an unrivaled depth of experience,” said Rubin. “I look forward to adding my legislative and private sector experience to an elite group that has earned clients’ trust in executing on tax policy priorities at a critical time in Washington.”
