Akin Advises Bain Capital Special Situations in Acquisition of Sunshine Leases

(London) – Akin advised Bain Capital Special Situations in its acquisition of Sunshine Leases, a Greek financial leasing subsidiary of Piraeus Bank S.A. The transaction also involved the acquisition of a portfolio of non-performing exposures by Hellas Capital Leasing, a Greek leasing company wholly owned by funds managed or advised by Bain Capital.
The Sunshine Portfolio comprises mostly commercial real estate and hotel assets backed leases. Sunshine Leases is Bain Capital Special Situations’ sixth transaction involving European leasing portfolios, a sector in which it has acquired approximately €2.8 billion in receivables. Akin lawyers have represented Bain Capital Special Situations in all these transactions.
