Akin Advises Nexperia on $177 Million Sale of Newport Wafer Fab

(London) – Akin advised Nexperia B.V., a global semiconductor manufacturer, on the $177 million sale of Newport Wafer Fab, the U.K.’s largest semiconductor manufacturer, to Vishay Intertechnology, Inc.
Newport Wafer Fab is located on a 28-acre site in Newport, South Wales, U.K. with over 400 employees and manufactures semiconductor wafers supplied primarily to the automotive industry.
Nexperia was required to divest Newport Wafer Fab pursuant to an order made by the U.K. Secretary of State under the National Security and Investment Act (NSIA) in November 2022. Akin has assisted Nexperia in the divestment order and its impact.
