(New York) – Akin advised Mubadala Capital and its portfolio company TruFood Manufacturing, a leading U.S. contract manufacturer specializing in better-for-you nutrition bars, chocolate and baked granola, in a combination with Bar Bakers, LLC, a leading contract manufacturer of branded nutrition and protein bars, baked bars and cookies and wafer bars.
Mubadala Capital is the wholly owned asset management subsidiary of Mubadala Investment Company, a leading global sovereign investor headquartered in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The combination of TruFood and Bar Bakers is expected to create a market leader in nutritional snacks with a significant footprint across product categories and geographies.
The Akin team was led by private equity partners Sergio Urias, Daniel Tavakoli and Amy Wollensack, and included debt finance partner Meng Ru; counsel Valerie Etienne, and associates Andrew Stubbs and Neal Kapoor.
