Akin is proud to share that its pro bono work with client Creutzfeldt-Jakob Disease (CJD) Foundation resulted in the introduction of the inaugural CJD Awareness Day Congressional Resolution in the U.S. Congress to establish November 12, 2023 as “CJD Awareness Day.”
CJD Foundation is a nonprofit dedicated to supporting families affected by Prion Disease by raising awareness and supporting medical education and research. The introduction of the resolution was a bipartisan effort by Reps. David Valadao (R-CA), Jim Costa (D-CA), David Joyce (R-OH), Shontel Brown (D-OH), Elissa Slotkin (D-MI) and Kevin McCarthy (R-CA).
The Akin lobbying & public policy team working with the CJD Foundation includes senior advisor Anna Abram, senior policy advisors Kendall Hussey and Virgil Miller, consultant Dr. Mario Ramirez and public policy specialist Derrick Stanfield.
