(Houston) – Akin is pleased to announce that energy transactions partner Trent Bridges has joined the firm’s Houston office. He joins the firm from Sidley Austin and previously served as vice president and assistant general counsel for Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P.

Bridges represents clients on a range of energy transactions, infrastructure development projects and investments, with a particular emphasis on the midstream industry. He has extensive experience advising on acquisitions, divestitures, joint ventures, greenfield projects and investments across the oil and gas value chain. He also represents clients advancing the energy transition, to include infrastructure projects and investments related to sustainable fuels, carbon capture, net-zero goals, and hydrogen.

“Trent’s experience working on impactful and cutting-edge energy and infrastructure transactions will be a tremendous asset to our clients,” said Akin chairperson Kim Koopersmith. “Our premier energy practice is an important part of the firm’s strategy, and we are delighted to add top talent like Trent to our team.”

Corporate practice co-head Zachary Wittenberg added, “Trent adds depth to our integrated energy team, in particular to our midstream capabilities around the purchase, sale, investment and development of pipelines, terminals and related infrastructure as well as complementary energy transition investments. We are thrilled to welcome Trent to the firm.”

“Akin has a very sophisticated and comprehensive energy platform with strength across oil and gas and the energy transition. It is an ideal setting for my clients and I’m excited to work with new colleagues throughout the firm’s market-leading energy team,” said Bridges on his move.

In Houston, Akin recently added energy transactions partner Ian Goldberg and private equity partner Andrew Lehman. Bridges is the latest in a series of high profile additions to Akin’s comprehensive energy practice, including projects & energy transition partners Ike Emehelu (New York), Alex Harrison, Matt Hardwick and Dan Giemajner (London), energy regulatory partners Emily Mallen and Stephen Hug (Washington, D.C.), tax equity partner Sam Guthrie (Washington, D.C.), and projects & energy transition partner Vanessa Richelle Wilson (Washington, D.C.).
