(Houston) – Akin is pleased to announce that energy transactions partner Ian Goldberg has joined the firm’s Houston office. Previously he led the Energy Transactions practice at Hunton Andrews Kurth.

Goldberg advises clients on a broad range of energy transactions, including mergers and acquisitions, divestitures, project development and financial transactions involving oil and gas assets, energy transition investments and rare earth mineral deposits.

“Our energy practice continues to see strong client demand in both traditional energy and energy transition work,” said Akin chairperson Kim Koopersmith. “Ian’s experience perfectly complements our comprehensive transactional offerings in Houston and I’m pleased to welcome him to the firm.”

Corporate practice co-head Zachary Wittenberg added, “Ian adds depth to our energy team with extensive experience in the onshore and offshore upstream and midstream sectors, and his current representation of clients in the carbon capture, utilization & storage and hydrogen spaces further strengthens our growing projects & energy transition practice.”

Goldberg is the latest in a series of high profile additions to Akin’s comprehensive energy practice, including projects & energy transition partners Ike Emehelu (New York), Alex Harrison, Matt Hardwick and Dan Giemajner (London), energy regulatory partners Emily Mallen and Stephen Hug (Washington, D.C.), tax equity partner Sam Guthrie (Washington, D.C.) and projects & energy transition partner Vanessa Richelle Wilson (Washington, D.C.).
