(Dallas) – Akin Gump advised AT&T Inc. in its acquisition of DIRECTV, which was completed July 24, 2015. AT&T now is the largest pay TV provider in the United States and the world, providing service to more than 26 million customers in the United States and more than 19 million customers in Latin America, including Mexico and the Caribbean.

The deal, which boasts a total transaction value of $67.1 billion, ranked among the largest deals announced in 2014, according to Fortune magazine—and is the largest of those deals to close.

Akin Gump served as lead antitrust counsel for the pre-merger integration planning effort. The team was led by Dallas antitrust partner Mike Warnecke.

Additionally, Mr. Warnecke’s role was covered by legal publications such as Law360 and The American Lawyer, which featured the transaction in its “Dealmakers of the Week” series for the week of July 27.

Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
