(London) – An Akin team advised Hokchi Energy, a Mexican oil and gas exploration and production company and subsidiary of Pan American Energy, in its purchase of certain assets from E&P Hidrocarburos, and its sale of certain assets to Mexican subsidiaries of Wintershall Dea.

Previously announced in October 2022, Wintershall Dea has now completed its acquisition of a 37% interest in the oil producing Hokchi Block offshore Mexico after securing government approvals. Through this acquisition, Wintershall Dea expanded its presence in Mexico and became the second-largest interest holder in the Hokchi Block after operator Hokchi Energy.

The Akin team that advised Hokchi Energy was led by corporate partner Dan Walsh and counsel Eduardo Canales, and included associate Ashish Alexander. Partners Sebastian Rice and Alex Harrison provided support on English law.

Akin is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
