Akin Gump Advises XYZ Films in Cryptocurrency-Funded, Blockchain-Distributed Film Financing Deal

(Los Angeles) XYZ Films, Ground Control Entertainment and producer Kyle Franke today announced they are partnering with SingularDTV co-founder and President of Entertainment Kim Jackson to finance and produce NEW FRONTIERS, a sci-fi anthology consisting of five short films, which together will form one feature-length film.

NEW FRONTIERS is the first film production ever to be financed and distributed using blockchain technology and the Ether cryptocurrency, powered by SingularDTV's proprietary apps. The project has a budget of $5 million (or approximately 9000 in Ether currency).

A team from Akin Gump advised XYZ Films in this groundbreaking deal. Entertainment partner Christopher S. Spicer led the team, which also included associate Nick Scott.

Production will start in the first quarter of 2018, and FUTURISM STUDIOS will serve as an executive producer on the project.
