Akin Gump Deal Wins in Three Categories at ALB Japan Law Awards

(Irvine, Calif.) – Toshiba’s sale of its Toshiba Memory Corporation to K.K. Pangea, a special purpose company formed and controlled by a consortium led by Bain Capital Private Equity, LP, won in three categories at the 14th annual Asian Legal Business Japan Law Awards. A team from Akin Gump advised Kingston Technology, a member of the consortium, in the deal. Other consortium members included SK Hynix, Hoya, Apple Inc., Dell and Seagate Technology.
The deal won Japan Deal of the Year, M&A Deal of the Year (Premium), and Technology, Media and Telecommunications Deal of the Year.
The ALB Japan Law Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of private practice law firms and in-house counsel to the legal landscape of the country. Winners were chosen by an independent judging panel.
The Toshiba deal, first announced in September 2017, closed earlier this month. Akin Gump corporate partner and Irvine office partner in charge Paul Lin led the firm’s representation of Kingston Technology in the deal. (Click here to read more.)
