(Hong Kong) – China Business Law Journal, in its 2014 China Business Law Awards, has recognized Akin Gump as one of its honorees in the category of international trade.
CBLJ spotlights Akin Gump’s work with Jiangxi Copper, China’s largest copper producer, as the company embarked on its first overseas acquisition: a 50 percent equity interest in Turkey’s Nesko Metal, which, CBLJ notes, is the first large-scale investment in the region by a Chinese mining company.
The recognition also singles out Akin Gump’s work on Giant Interactive’s $3 billion take-private, which, CBLJ notes, was reported as the second-largest PE-backed privatization of a U.S.-listed Chinese company (learn more here). This work was also recognized by CBLJ in January 2015, as Akin Gump received “Deal of the Year” recognition from the publication (learn more here).
In its profile of the firm, CBLJ noted kudos and comments offered by Akin Gump clients about the firm (Akin Gump is “able to navigate the various issues that arise.”) and Asia practice head Gregory Puff (He has “in-depth experience in resources-related transactions internationally. He is also open-minded and creative in giving us advice and developing strategies in negotiations.”)
This is the second consecutive year that Akin Gump has been honored in this category by CBLJ. In 2014, it received the periodical’s inaugural award in the category for work the firm performed on behalf of a major aerospace company and a U.S. insurance company (learn more here).
Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
