Akin Gump Hosts Energy Infrastructure CLE Program

(Houston) – Akin Gump hosted an energy infrastructure CLE program today, titled “Impact of Trade Policy, Midterm Elections and Oil Prices.” Following welcoming remarks by Christine B. LaFollette, partner in charge of Akin Gump’s Houston office, the program consisted of two panel discussions looking at how these issues are likely to affect the energy industry.
The first panel, “Impact on Deals and Projects,” was moderated by oil and gas partner Stephen D. Davis. He was joined by international trade partner Christian C. Davis, oil and gas partner Gabriel Procaccini, Vijay D’Cruz, vice president, legal, at Enterprise Products, and Jamie McInerney, senior director at FTI Consulting.
The second panel, moderated by Stephen M. Baldini, head of Akin Gump’s litigation practice, was titled “Impact on Litigation and International Arbitration.” The speakers were litigation partners Marty L. Brimmage Jr. and Justin Williams and independent international arbitrator and mediator, the Honourable Barry Leon.
Brendan Dunn, a public law and policy partner, gave the keynote speech to conclude the program, looking at the 2018 midterm elections, the respective strategies of Republicans and Democrats and each party’s current standing in the House and Senate. Dunn is a former policy advisor and counsel to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell.
