(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump is pleased to announce the launch of The PAGA Report, a blog focused on California’s Private Attorneys General Act (PAGA).
The PAGA Report provides the latest news, insights and analysis from Akin Gump lawyers with significant knowledge and experience in this critical area of California employment law.
“Representative actions under PAGA are increasingly common, and while they have some similarities to class actions, there are also significant differences,” said Jonathan Slowik, Akin Gump labor and employment counsel. “As we unravel these complexities, this blog will serve as a valuable resource to employers impacted by California wage and hour law. We look forward to providing our clients, and employers alike, with key insights and analysis on this business-critical issue as they seek to navigate the intricate aspects of California labor and employment law.”
As an example of the content and analysis that the blog will feature, a recent post, “Not So Fast: Trial Courts Finding PAGA’s Statute of Limitations Is Still Alive and Well After Johnson v. Maxim Healthcare,” explains two recent trial court decisions rejecting the argument that a recent Court of Appeal decision abrogates the requirement that a PAGA plaintiff bring a lawsuit within one year of experiencing an alleged violation.
