Akin Gump Lawyers Get Shout Out in Am Law’s Litigator of the Week Series

(New York) – The American Lawyer, in its article “LOTW Runners-Up and Shout Out,” has featured an Akin Gump team among its “shout outs” for its Litigators of the Week series.
In the article, the publication highlighted litigation partners Joseph Sorkin and Michael Asaro along with counsel Jessica Fitts and associate Victoria Fydrych for their successful representation of hedge fund Mangrove Partner in a defamation action brought by Eros, a publicly traded Indian company that distributes Bollywood films worldwide, in the New York Appellate Division, First Department. According to the publication, the allegations involved actions on the part of Mangrove and other defendants to defame Eros by “engaging in a so-called ‘short and distort,’ by making critical web postings about the company’s performance,” which the appellate court dismissed, agreeing with the lower court’s decision.
