Akin Gump Names Steven Maslowski New Co-Head of Intellectual Property Practice

(Philadelphia) – Akin Gump has announced that Steven D. Maslowski has been named co-head of the firm’s intellectual property practice. Mr. Maslowski will transition into the role of sole leader of the practice during the next several months, after which time Steven M. Zager, who had been serving as the sole head of the practice since 2005, will step down to return to his full-time practice of law.
Mr. Maslowski has substantial trial experience in many high-profile, “bet-the-company” patent cases. He focuses on litigating patent infringement disputes in the life sciences, including highly complex biological and chemical inventions, such as monoclonal antibodies, small molecule drugs and polymer compositions, as well as medical devices. He has also been counsel in numerous inter partes review proceedings before the United States Patent and Trademark Office.
Among other recognitions, in September 2017 Mr. Maslowski was selected by the editorial board of Philadelphia Business Journal as an honoree in the category of Intellectual Property Litigation for the publication’s inaugural Best of the Bar awards.
