(New York) – In response to the COVID-19 crisis, Akin Gump has teamed up with a pro bono partner organization, the Brooklyn Bar Association Volunteer Lawyers Project (VLP), to launch the VLP COVID-19 Frontline Workers Initiative.
The timely initiative focuses on recognizing the sacrifice and dedication of 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East members by offering the free preparation of life planning documents, such as wills, health care proxies, powers of attorney and parental designation forms.
“We are excited to partner with the VLP on this crucial project to help New York City’s frontline healthcare workers,” said Akin Gump pro bono counsel Lauren Connell. “We are happy to support a group that has been such a key part of the pandemic response and hope that our work will provide some measure of comfort and security in these uncertain times.”
Established in 1990, the VLP has worked to make the legal system accessible to low-income Brooklyn residents through the pro bono involvement of the private bar. To read more about this partnership between Akin Gump and Brooklyn VLP, please click here.
