Akin Gump Team Successfully Assists UnionDocs with Document Refresh

(New York) – In a pro bono engagement, Akin Gump has assisted UnionDocs, an internationally recognized nonprofit center for documentary art, in completing a review and update of its key commercial agreements.
UnionDocs helps filmmakers add to the field of documentary arts by, among other things, providing them with administrative and financial support under a fiscal sponsorship model. The UnionDocs team holds and disburses charitable contributions, performs tax and accounting services, and takes care of the administrative work so that filmmakers can focus on producing films.
Christopher Allen, founder of UnionDocs, expressed his gratitude for the partnership with Akin Gump, noting, “[The attorneys] were both detailed and efficient, and enjoyable to work with. They carefully understood our specific needs and thoughtfully applied their knowledge, taking the time to explain the proposed language.” Allen went further, stating his team has much greater confidence since closing the matter with Akin Gump and believes the organization is now protected by “a tool that allows us to responsibly direct funds to dozens of film projects over the coming years.”
Akin Gump investment management partner John Hamilton and senior counsel Krishna Skandakumar led the Akin Gump team that helped UnionDocs. The team also comprised corporate associate Grace Seidl and tax partner Olivier De Moor and senior counsel Kenneth Alderfer.
Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 900 lawyers in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
