(Irvine, CA) – Akin Gump announces that it will open an office in Orange County, California, expanding the firm’s presence in this vital West Coast economic nexus while launching its fourth office in that state and 20th worldwide. Paul Lin, partner in the firm's corporate practice, will serve as partner in charge. The office will be open effective January 2, 2014, and will be located at the Jamboree Center in Irvine.
The firm's expansion to Orange County reflects its continuing commitment to the rapidly growing California practice and to the cross-border market, for which California serves as the principal gateway. The office will focus on cross-border matters; mergers and acquisitions; corporate finance; intellectual property and dispute resolution, including litigation, arbitration, issues and appeals and patent litigation; and real estate.
“One of Akin Gump's core goals is to ensure that we are well positioned to serve our clients in terms of our skills and geographic reach,” stated firm chairperson Kim Koopersmith. “I'm very pleased that this expansion will enable the firm to enhance the service we provide to our existing client base, which has a strong presence in Orange County, and presents us with the opportunity to forge new relationships.”
“Orange County is an increasingly significant business hub for the U.S., California and, in particular, Greater China, as well as for foreign companies doing business in the U.S. and for U.S. companies conducting outbound business,” stated Lin. “I am very excited by this opportunity to be able to better serve our clients from this key market.”
In addition to Orange County, Akin Gump has California offices in downtown Los Angeles, Century City and San Francisco.
Founded in 1945, Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is a leading international law firm with more than 850 attorneys in offices throughout the United States, Europe, Asia and the Middle East.
