Akin Provides Ongoing Pro Bono Support to the Tropical Biology Association
Contact:
(London) – Akin continues to advise the Tropical Biology Association (TBA) across a number of matters and initiatives.
The Tropical Biology Association has been training the conservation leaders of tomorrow since 1995. TBA’s young scientists are changing the face of conservation, safeguarding their countries’ biodiversity for the long term.
Recent pro bono matters that Akin has supported the Tropical Biology Association on include:
- Advising on various areas of charity law relevant to the TBA and its operations, including liaising with the Charity Commission for England and Wales.
- Updating the TBA’s constitutional documents to reflect the evolution of the charity and its progress since its incorporation in 2004. Akin has assisted with drafting bespoke governing documents (including its articles of association) which reflect the TBA’s charitable work and objectives.
- Supporting the appointment of new trustees to expand the TBA’s reach and the creation of advisory committees to guide the TBA on matters such as conservation and capacity building.
CEO of the Tropical Biology Association, Dr Rosie Trevelyan MBE, reflects on Akin’s pro bono support:
“We are hugely grateful to have the ongoing support of Akin, a leading global firm with an exceptional pro bono practice. The TBA works in partnership with conservation institutes and member organisations in more than 60 countries in Africa, SE Asia and in Europe, and we welcome the collaboration with Akin to reach more passionate young people, change more lives and protect tropical biodiversity.”
A cross-practice Akin team assists on TBA pro bono matters led by corporate partner Vance Chapman with associates Ben Balzan (corporate), Ben Hasson (financial restructuring) and Kelvin Mahal (corporate).
