(LONDON) – Akin today announced that Daniel Wayte will join the firm as a corporate partner in London, expanding the firm’s preferred equity & hybrid capital offering and strengthening Akin’s recently launched global capital solutions team, comprised of market-leading transactional lawyers that advise on complex situations across debt and equity, hybrid and structured solutions, joint ventures, rollups and spinouts.
Wayte’s practice focuses on capital solutions transactions, principally for private credit and alternative capital investors. Working across the full spectrum of private and public equity transactions, Wayte has over twenty years of experience in growth equity, public and private M&A, joint ventures, asset backed finance investments, preferred equity and special situations.
“As the lines blur across many of our private capital clients’ investment strategies, we are seeing increasing demand in structuring forward-thinking investment solutions,” said Akin chairperson Kim Koopersmith. “Akin is a frontrunner in this space with increasing numbers of private capital investors looking to deploy debt, equity or hybrid capital solutions. Daniel scales up our capital solutions platform, adds depth to the global team and underscores Akin’s commitment to our international investor clients.”
Leader of Akin’s capital solutions team Ranesh Ramanathan continued, “Daniel’s arrival benefits our private capital clients pursuing deals in the international market, in particular in the growing preferred equity and hybrid capital space. This is another significant step for our London offering and for Akin’s capital solutions team. Daniel’s depth and breadth of experience is complementary to London’s recent expansion in the technology space and the firm’s continued energy and infrastructure focus.”
Prior to joining Akin, Wayte was previously at Orrick, Herrington & Sutcliffe, Milbank and Slaughters & May. Wayte’s addition in London follows the recent arrival of the global technology transactions team of Justin Stock, Stephen Rosen and David Bresnick and energy partner Rob Butler.
“I’m thrilled to be joining Akin’s integrated and collaborative capital solutions team,” said Daniel on his move. “A known pioneer in the space, I look forward to contributing to the firm’s continued success and providing clients with cutting-edge market advice and creative investment solutions.”
