Am Law Names Brian Daly a 'Northeast Trailblazer,' Publishes Profile

(New York) – Akin Gump is pleased to share that The American Lawyer has selected investment management partner Brian Daly as a Northeast Trailblazer. Trailblazers are “agents of change…who have moved the needle in the legal industry,” while “Northeast” refers to the New England states plus New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

• What started him on the path to trailblazer: “Over the past decade, the private funds industry has shifted from a largely unregulated industry to a highly scrutinized one. With more changes taking effect in the next year, the industry will enter an era of hyper-regulation. When I was in-house, it was clear these changes were coming and I enjoyed the challenge of helping my firm adapt to this new reality.”
• The resulting change: “My work has evolved in parallel with the industry. We are in the midst of commenting on a raft of SEC rulemaking proposals that will transform the level of regulation and supervision of fund managers, and there is a small vanguard of lawyers who focus on this space leading that charge.”
