Cross-Practice Akin Gump Team Advises Hannon Armstrong on Land and Lease Acquisition

(Los Angeles) – A multipractice Akin Gump team advised Hannon Armstrong Sustainable Infrastructure Capital, Inc. in the acquisition of a $107 million portfolio of land and payments from land leases underlying wind and solar projects. The transaction is structured as a purchase of American Wind Capital Company, LLC with no debt, liabilities or employees. As part of the deal, Hannon Armstrong acquired more than 7,500 acres of land leased to three solar projects with a value of approximately $60 million.
Ed Zaelke, co-chair of Akin Gump’s global project finance practice, led the team advising Hannon Armstrong. He was assisted by communications and information technology partner Doug Brandon, global project finance partner Tom Dupuis, tax partner David Burton and environment and natural resources partner David Quigley. Joining them were Andrew Oelz, counsel in the environment and natural resources practice and Jonno Boyer-Dry, associate in the global project finance practice.
