D.C. Summer Olympics Bid Receiving Boost from Akin

(Washington) –Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP is serving as legal advisor to DC 2024, the official exploratory committee working to bring the 2024 Summer Olympics and Paralympics to the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area.
Earlier this year, the United States Olympic Committee sent letters to the mayors of 35 U.S. cities to gauge their interest in making a bid for the 2024 Olympics, officially known as the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad. DC 2024 is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt organization supported by the local political, business and sporting communities.
Anthony Pierce, partner in charge of Akin Gump’s Washington office, serves on the board of DC 2024 and coordinates the firm’s efforts on behalf of the organization. He’s joined from the firm by Washington tax partner Howard Jacobson, corporate partner Sandra Hallmark and tax senior counsel Kenneth Alderfer.
