(Washington, D.C.)—Akin announced today that Jocelyn Wiles has joined Akin’s lobbying & public policy practice as a senior policy advisor in Washington, D.C. Wiles brings nearly two decades of health policy experience, in both the public and private sectors, developing and executing federal advocacy and outreach strategies to advance health care-related legislative and business goals, most recently serving as the Assistant Vice President of Federal Affairs at the Pharmaceutical Care Management Association (PCMA) and previously leading Democratic advocacy at America’s Essential Hospitals.
Health care policy is a consistently active area of focus for Congress and administrations regardless of which party is in the majority in the House and Senate or resides in the White House. Wiles’ health policy experience is far reaching—from provider, patient, to numerous public health issues—and her addition enhances Akin’s bipartisan advocacy health care bench.
Wiles began her career in health policy on Capitol Hill where she was very active on health issues before the House Committee on Energy and Commerce Committee, focusing on Medicaid, Medicare, drug pricing policy and children’s health and insurance issues while working for Rep. Kathy Castor (D-FL) and Rep. Barbara Lee (D-CA). Wiles’ significant government experience includes having served at the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as a Public Health Analyst. In this role, she guided stakeholders through the implementation of the Affordable Care Act (ACA) and developed strategies that bridged federal programs and community health needs.
Brian Pomper, co-head of Akin’s lobbying and public policy group said, “Jocelyn’s strategic acumen and her ability to cultivate close relationships on both sides of the aisle, combined with her experience on the Hill, with the executive branch and in the private sector strengthens our ability to deliver comprehensive advocacy solutions for our clients in the health care and life sciences sector. We are thrilled to welcome Jocelyn to Akin.”
“I look forward to joining the elite lobbying and public policy practice at Akin, where I can use my depth of health policy experience developing effective outreach strategies on health-care related issues toward achieving winning results for our clients,” said Wiles.
