Kapil Pandit Named a National Law Journal D.C. Rising Star

(Washington, D.C.) – Akin Gump investment management partner Kapil Pandit has been recognized by The National Law Journal as one its 2020 D.C. Rising Stars, a list of the top young practitioners in the nation’s capital who have “excelled on some of the biggest stages.”
In a Q&A profile published by NLJ, Mr. Pandit spoke first of his biggest professional accomplishment. He described it as representing a client “in the spin-out of their PE portfolio and launch of an investment management business managing third-party capital, which involved a large, complex stapled secondary.” It was exciting and rewarding, he said, to help a client launch a new venture.
Mr. Pandit also described the most valuable lesson he learned during his first year practicing law: Listen to clients and make their lives easier. He also stressed the importance of providing “direct practical/commercial answers to questions” along with being honest and direct and working “quickly to figure out the answer to meet your clients’ needs.”
Finally, Mr. Pandit shared a key to his success, stressing the importance of taking care of one’s team. In addition, he said, “find a way to connect with clients on a personal level and practicing law will be much more fun.”
