(Washington, D.C.) – The National Law Journal has recognized Akin Gump congressional investigations practice co-head Rafi Prober as among its inaugural Crisis Leadership Trailblazers. According to the publication, Trailblazers are those who have “made significant marks on the practice, policy and technological advancement of their practice” throughout their career.

In his published profile, Mr. Prober, a former U.S. Department of Justice Associate Deputy Attorney General, discusses his approach to advising clients in some of the “largest, most complex and most high-profile matters,” noting that he views each matter as a “three-dimensional chessboard, and always [tries] to see around corners and anticipate the next moves to be made.”

Further, Mr. Prober notes that many of his engagements have resulted in significant impact on society, including representing the Episcopal Diocese of Washington, D.C. and a St. John’s Church clergy member in Congressional hearings regarding the violent removal of peaceful protesters in Lafayette Square in June 2020 (learn more here). He added that one of his proudest accomplishments was when he helped secure an historic $60 million U.S./French agreement to address the actions on the French National Railway that deported tens of thousands of victims toward German death camps during the Holocaust (learn more here).

Looking toward the future, Mr. Prober discusses the increasing impact of the dissemination of information on the crisis management space, saying, “One of the immense – and increasing – challenges we and our clients face in the crisis space is the compressed news cycle and the way information is consumed and opinions are formed. It is against this increasingly challenging backdrop that cases are litigated, Congressional and other governmental inquiries are conducted, and outcomes are determined.”
