(Los Angeles) – The Hollywood Reporter has once again named Akin Gump entertainment practice head Christopher Spicer and fellow partner Marissa Román Griffith to its annual Power Lawyers list, a ranking of Hollywood’s top 100 attorneys. This is the fourth consecutive recognition for Mr. Spicer and the fifth for Ms. Griffith.
Mr. Spicer is noted for his work in traditional entertainment transactions, including Comerica Bank’s loan facility for Bron Studios to co-finance a slate of Warner Bros. projects and several multimillion-dollar deals for East West Bank, as well as in new types of projects, with Mr. Spicer noting, “With the explosion of content, it has been fun representing international companies with underlying IP that is hot for new projects.”
THR highlights Ms. Griffith’s work representing MRC in its negotiation to pivot Lovebirds to Netflix and Hello Sunshine in a new credit facility; continuing her work with major financial institutions, including JPMorgan Chase, MUFG and Comerica; and working with insurers requiring COVID exclusions on production insurance policies.
Earlier this year, the duo was also named to THR’s Top 20 Dealmakers list (click here to learn more) and, last month, they were among a group of six Akin Gump lawyers named to Variety’s Legal Impact Report, a list of the “legal eagles [who] made an impact in entertainment, helping showbiz artists in their endeavors” (click here to learn more).
