(Los Angeles) – The Hollywood Reporter, for the 11th time in as many years, has named Akin Gump entertainment practice head P. John Burke to its Power Lawyers list—a list of the top 100 attorneys in Hollywood. Joining him this year for the first time is fellow partner Marissa Román Griffith.
In its profile of Burke, THR cited his work helping film directors Sam Raimi and Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck to form the independent production company Allegory Films. THR noted that Burke also represents the Abu Dhabi entertainment company Image Nation and RatPac-Dune Entertainment’s co-financing agreement with Warner Bros. In addition, he oversees Assured Guaranty’s portion of a major independent distributor’s film library.
Griffith helped secure financing for two of this year’s most anticipated projects—Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver and the adaptation of Stephen King’s The Dark Tower, which earned her a nod for THR’s list. Her television projects were just as accomplished, working on the financing for Media Rights Capital productions like Netflix’s House of Cards, the Jason Bateman-Laura Linney series Ozarks and the J.K. Simmons science-fiction thriller Counterpart on Starz.
Earlier this year, Burke and Griffith were named to The Hollywood Reporter’s list of “Hollywood’s Top 20 Dealmakers of 2016.” For more on that, please click here.
