Veteran Capitol Hill Staffer Jose Borjon Joins Akin Gump

(Washington, D.C. and Houston) – Jose Borjon, an accomplished veteran Capitol Hill staffer with strong ties to the Congressional Hispanic Caucus, has joined Akin Gump as a senior policy advisor in its Washington, D.C., and Houston, Texas, offices.

Mr. Borjon comes to Akin Gump with more than a decade of experience in senior roles on Capitol Hill, working for several members of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Most recently, Mr. Borjon served as the Chief of Staff to Rep. Vicente Gonzalez (D-TX), a member of the House Financial Services and Foreign Affairs committees and Chair of the Oil & Gas Caucus. Over the past four years on Rep. Gonzalez’s staff, Mr. Borjon served as a principal advisor on all congressional work, including in the formation of policy and political strategy.

Mr. Borjon previously held leadership roles with Rep. Filemon Vela, Co-Chair of the Border Caucus; former Rep. Silvestre Reyes, who served as Chairman of the House Permanent Committee on Intelligence; and former Rep. Solomon Ortiz, the then-Dean of the Congressional Hispanic Caucus.
