AB 2925: California Requires Higher Education Institutions to Provide DEI and Anti-Discrimination Training

September 28, 2024

Summary

AB 2925 was passed in September 2024 and requires most California higher education institutions that receive state financial assistance to provide anti-discrimination training against "the five most targeted groups in the state" as part of the institutions' general anti-discrimination or diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) training.

Institutions must determine the five most targeted groups in the state by referring to the state Attorney General's "Hate Crime in California" publication for the highest number of events by subcategory bias motivations.
