HCR 78: Louisiana Requests Higher Education Management to Submit Report on ESG Actions

Summary

House Concurrent Resolution 78 was adopted by the state House and Senate in June 2024 and requests public postsecondary education management boards to submit a report about ESG actions taken to the state House Committee on Education, Senate Committee on Education, and Joint Legislative Committee on the Budget. The report must defend using "ESG criteria in the context of fiduciary responsibilities as stewards of state resources" and provide "information on the nature of ESG reporting and the validity and financial efficacy of items scored and reported."

The resolution is aimed at determining what role ESG considerations have in the state's financial investments.
