SB 1177: California Requires Public Utilities to Report Contractor and Employee Diversity Statistics

Summary

SB 1177 was enacted in September 2024 and requires public utilities with gross annual revenues exceeding $25 million to report on contractor diversity, subcontractor diversity, and amounts expended with in-state subcontractors.

The law also requires public utilities to submit annual reports to the Public Utilities Commission describing diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) policies and the employment of women, disabled veterans, and minority and LGBT individuals.
