SB 234: Louisiana Prohibits Public Contracts with Companies that Discriminate Against Firearm Entities

Summary

SB 234 was enacted in June 2024 and became effective on August 1, 2024. It prohibits any Louisiana public entity from awarding a public contract exceeding $100,000 to companies that discriminate against the firearms and ammunition industries. The law defines discrimination against such entities to include refusing to engage in the trade of goods or services, refraining from continuing an existing business relationship, or terminating an existing business relationship with an entity based solely on its status as a firearm entity or firearm trade association.
