- Represents public and private companies, creditor groups, and investment funds in bankruptcy and financial restructuring matters.
Alex represents secured and unsecured creditors, debtors and other parties in interest in both in- and out-of-court large complex restructuring matters.
His clients include hedge funds, private equity firms and financial institutions. His work includes assisting clients with acquisitions of distressed companies or their assets through in-court sales under section 363 of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code.
Alex’s work also includes representing creditors in complex multijurisdictional insolvency matters and advising on cross-border issues. Alex has experience filing and prosecuting involuntary bankruptcy petitions on behalf of creditors of distressed companies.
Alex maintains an active pro bono practice, focusing on representing survivors of domestic violence in immigration matters as well as incarcerated persons in parole hearings before the U.S. Parole Commission.
- GenesisCare: Counsel to an ad hoc group of secured creditors and DIP lenders in the chapter 11 cases of GenesisCare, a global health care provider specializing in cancer treatment, involving $1.7 billion in liabilities.
- Enviva: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Enviva, the world's largest wood-based biomass company, involving over $2 billion in liabilities.
- Yak Access: Counsel to an ad hoc group of existing first lien term loan lenders in the completion of a major recapitalization of Yak Access, a leading provider of temporary access roads and related services, led by its principal equity holder, Platinum Equity.
- Intelsat: Counsel to an ad hoc group of creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Intelsat and its affiliates, one of the largest satellite services providers in the world, involving $14.7 billion in liabilities. Restructuring of the Year - Over $10B (M&A Advisor)
- Talen Energy: Counsel to an ad hoc group of first lien creditors in the chapter 11 cases of Talen Energy and its affiliates, one of the largest power generation and infrastructure companies in North America, involving $4.455 billion in liabilities.
