Alex is a partner in the corporate practice based in the Firm’s Abu Dhabi office. Alex has played a pivotal role in advising on numerous groundbreaking first-of-their-kind and award-winning transactions within the Middle East region.
- Represented The Red Sea Development Company, a wholly owned subsidiary of the Public Investment Fund of Saudi Arabia (PIF), on the financing of Phase One of The Red Sea Project. This deal was recognized as “Project Finance Deal of the Year” by Capital Markets Saudi Arabia Awards 2021.
- Represented The Red Sea Development Company on its joint venture agreement with Almutlaq Real Estate Investment Co. (AREIC), a subsidiary of Riyadh-based investment family group the Al Mutlaq Group (AMG), for the development of the Jumeirah The Red Sea, a 159-room luxury resort situated on Shura Island.
- Represented nine regional and local lenders in connection with the SAR 6.1 billion Islamic project financing of Advanced Polyolefins Industry Company’s petrochemicals complex in Saudi Arabia. This deal was recognized as “Petrochemicals Deal of the Year” by IJ Global 2022 “Project Finance Loan Deal of the Year” by Capital Markets & ESG Finance Saudi Arabia Awards 2023.
- Represented the Mandated Lead Arrangers in connection with the SAR 2.15 billion Islamic project financing for the construction of a new petrochemicals complex in Yanbu, Saudi Arabia. This deal was recognized as “MENA Petrochemicals Deal of the Year” by IJGlobal 2018.
- Represented SPPC in connection with the 1.5 GW Sudair solar photovoltaic (PV) independent power plant (IPP) project (recognized as “MENA Renewables Deal of the Year” by IJ Global 2021 and “Structured Finance Deal of the Year” by Capital Markets Saudi Arabia Awards 2021); the 2,060 MW Al Shuaibah 2 PV IPP project; the 700 MW Ar Raas PV IPP project; the 300 MW Saad PV IPP project; the 300 MW Rabigh PV IPP project; and the 300 MW Jeddah PV IPP project.
