Biography
  • Advises clients on financial restructuring matters.

Amelia Danovitch is an associate in the firm’s financial restructuring practice. She advises debtors, creditors and other stakeholders in complex chapter 11 cases and out-of-court restructurings.

Prior to joining Akin, Amelia served as a judicial extern to the Honorable O. Rogeriee Thompson, U.S. Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.

Amelia earned her J.D. from Boston University School of Law, where she was a Distinguished Scholar and served as vice president of the Communication, Entertainment and Sports Law Association.

Representative Work
  • Rudolph W. Guiliani: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors, on a pro bono basis, in the chapter 11 cases of Rudolph W. Giuliani, American politician and former mayor of New York City, involving over $152 million in liabilities.
  • TPC: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 cases of TPC Group and its affiliates, a petrochemical manufacturing company, with $1.3 billion in funded debt obligations and hundreds of millions of dollars in tort liabilities. Successful Restructurings of the Year (Turnarounds & Workouts)
  • Sungard: Counsel to Sungard Availability Services and its affiliates, a global operator of colocation data and disaster recovery centers, in their chapter 11 cases involving more than $500 million in liabilities and the sale of substantially all of the company’s assets.
  • Loyalty Ventures: Counsel to Loyalty Ventures and its affiliates, an operator of customer loyalty programs, in their chapter 11 cases involving over $656 million in liabilities.
  • Fusion Connect: Counsel to Fusion Connect, a technology infrastructure provider, in an out-of-court restructuring through which it reduced its outstanding debt by over 80 percent.
