Biography
Licensed to practice in Massachusetts only and under the supervision of the partners of Akin Gump Strauss Hauer & Feld LLP. Application for admission to the Texas Bar in process.
  • Focuses on all aspects of immigration and nationality law, including employment visas, permanent residency, naturalization and immigration-related internal investigations.
  • Assists clients on international trade laws and regulations.

Katie is a senior practice attorney in the firm’s international trade practice. She advises corporate clients on navigating complex and evolving regulatory matters, developing immigration strategies, and implementing their programs and processes.

Katie has assisted with the following types of cases:

  • EB-1 (Individuals of Extraordinary Ability, Outstanding Professors and Researchers, and Multinational Managers and Executives)
  • EB-2 / EB-3 (Employment-based PERM Labor Certification Green Cards)
  • NIW (National Interest Waiver Green Cards)
  • B-1 and B-2 (Short-Term Visitors)
  • E-1 and E-2 (Treaty-Based Investors and Traders)
  • H-1B (Specialty Occupations)
  • J-1 (Exchange Visitors)
  • L-1A and L-1B (Intracompany Transferees)
  • O-1A and O-1B (Individuals with Extraordinary Ability or Achievement)
  • TN (Canadian and Mexican USMCA (NAFTA) Professional Workers).

She also assists clients in a variety of pro bono matters, including immigration.

Prior to joining Akin, Katie was an attorney at a global immigration law firm and was in-house counsel at a Fortune 500 energy supply company. Katie earned her J.D. from Albany Law School. During law school, Katie was Managing Editor of Business and Productions for the Albany Government Law Review, Executive Editor for the Center for Judicial Process and Senior Editor of the Government Law and Policy Journal for the New York State Bar Association. She holds a B.A. in political science from the University of Vermont.
