Biography
  • Concentrates practice on complex commercial litigation, with a particular emphasis on financial restructuring and bankruptcy litigation.
  • Represents corporations and senior executives in government and internal investigations involving allegations of fraud and corruption.
  • Defends individuals and corporations in criminal prosecutions and regulator enforcement actions brought by the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), Department of Commerce (DOC), and other state and federal regulators.

Dara is an associate in the firm’s litigation group. Dara’s practice focuses on complex commercial disputes, restructuring litigation, and white collar and securities matters. Dara also maintains a robust pro bono practice, including through various Criminal Justice Act engagements.

Dara graduated with a B.A. summa cum laude in English literature and concentration in English as a second language (ESL) education from The University of Memphis. Prior to law school, Dara worked as an ESL educator and aide in Memphis city public schools. 

Dara earned their J.D. magna cum laude from Tulane University Law School, where they were named to the Order of the Coif and served as managing editor of the Tulane Law Review and president of the Public Interest Law Foundation.

During law school, Dara served as a judicial extern to the Honorable James L. Dennis of the U.S. Court of Appeals for the 5th Circuit and as a legal assistant to various public interest organizations, including Amara Legal Center, Tulane Domestic Violence Clinic and The Pro Bono Project.

Representative Work
  • Represented senior executives in connection with investigations by the DOJ and SEC into alleged insider trading and deceptive trading and sales practices.
  • Represented various official committees of unsecured creditors in maximizing value of creditor recovery through investigation of estate claims during chapter 11 restructuring.
  • Alex Jones: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors, on a pro bono basis, in the chapter 11 case of right-wing media personality Alex Jones, which was commenced following the entry of more than $1.5 billion in state court judgments against Jones and his company, Free Speech Systems, as a result of Jones’s defamatory comments regarding the Sandy Hook Elementary School shooting.
  • SVB: Counsel to the Official Committee of Unsecured Creditors in the chapter 11 case of SVB Financial Group, the former parent company of Silicon Valley Bank, involving $3.4 billion in liabilities.
