- Represents investors and public and private companies in complex corporate transactions.
Grant is an associate in the firm’s corporate practice. He focuses on a wide range of complex corporate transactions, including advising special situations funds, private equity firms, global asset managers, other strategic investors and their portfolio companies. Grant provides advice on mergers & acquisitions (M&A), divestitures, special situations, preferred and structured equity financings, recapitalizations, reorganizations, joint ventures (JVs) and general corporate and governance matters.
Prior to joining Akin, Grant was an M&A associate at another international law firm based in New York City.
Grant earned his J.D. from Georgetown University Law Center and his B.B.A. from the University of Miami.
- Represented Krispy Kreme in its sale of a majority ownership stake in Insomnia Cookies.
- Represented New York Community Bancorp (now Flagstar Financial Inc.) in its over $1 billion recapitalization via a capital raise led by Liberty Strategic Capital, Hudson Bay and Reverence Capital.
- Represented Banc of California in its merger with PacWest and concurrent capital raise from Warburg Pincus and Centerview.
- Represented Veritex Holdings in its sale of Thrive Mortgage and investment in Lower Mortgage.
- Represented Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation in its strategic partnership and minority investment in Jefferies Financial Group.
- Represented DMG Bancshares in its acquisition of Liberty Bank.
