Biography
  • Represents public and private companies and individuals facing complex and politically sensitive congressional and governmental investigations.
  • Has experience counseling clients in white collar defense matters, including related internal, civil and regulatory proceedings.

Hayley’s practice primarily focuses on advising clients in all aspects of congressional investigations and government inquiries. Her experience includes counseling Fortune 500 companies, individuals and public institutions on a wide range of politically sensitive and high profile internal and government-facing investigations. She also works with clients on related criminal, civil, and regulatory proceedings.

Hayley previously served as a public policy specialist in Akin’s public law and policy practice, where she focused on campaign finance, lobbying and government ethics. She was also a member of Akin’s 2018 summer associate class.

While in law school, Hayley represented Boston College Law School as a member of the Craven Constitutional Law Moot Court Team, finishing as a semifinalist in the national competition.

Hayley’s commitment to public service was recognized by the Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court for her commitment to public service for performing over 100 hours of pro bono work while in law school. As a public interest fellow at Boston College Law School, she spent time working directly with the pro bono partner at a major Boston law firm on improving access to justice, and assisted the Boston Election Commission on a voting rights initiative.

  • Represented individuals and companies before several congressional committees in preparation for briefings and hearings.
  • Represented a public company in a multiyear congressional investigation related to environmental concerns.
  • Defended individual against high-profile civil litigation brought by the New York Attorney General’s office.
  • Represented a large public company in an investigation by the Select Subcommittee on the Coronavirus Pandemic into labor practices during the COVID-19 pandemic.
  • Counseled a global health care logistics company through inquiries, requests for documents and briefings from multiple congressional committees.
  • Secured asylum and release from detention for former Afghan interpreter for the U.S. military.
  • Assisted with providing legal services to clients for the Washington Legal Clinic for the Homeless, work for which she received the Akin Washington, D.C., Extraordinary Pro Bono Award in 2016.
