Jody Novak assists individuals, corporate entities, developers, sponsors and real estate investment funds in a wide variety of real property transactions throughout the United States. She has been involved in matters involving:

Jody served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Renee Harris Toliver, Magistrate for the U.S. District Court, Northern District of Texas.
In law school, Jody was a chief counsel for the Southern Methodist University Civil Clinic, helping clients on a pro bono basis. She was also a contracts tutor for the Academic Skills Assistance Program.
Prior to joining Akin, Jody worked for a wind farm developer assisting in all phases of the development and disposition process of wind projects.
- Supported a real estate investment fund in the sale of two data center facilities in the continental U.S. for a combined purchase price of $563 million.
- Assisted a real estate investment fund and the associated management company in the acquisition and financing of three existing data center facilities in the continental U.S. for a combined purchase price of $545 million. All three facilities are owned by a real estate investment trust (REIT).
- Provided legal advice to an investor/owner in the sale of a 15 data center portfolio with an aggregate sales price in excess of $600 million.
- Represents REITs in the drafting of data center leases and co-location master services agreements.
- Assists in drafting of design agreements and construction agreements related to multi-family developments, mixed-use developments, hotels, data centers and other office, retail and industrial facilities.
