Biography
  • Advises U.S. and international clients on various international trade law matters, including U.S. customs and import controls.

John Karellas is an associate in the international trade practice. He advises clients on enforcement and compliance issues related to U.S. export controls and economic sanctions, customs and import controls, and compliance with international trade laws and regulations. He also advises on matters involving international trade policy and regulatory developments.

Previously, John was an attorney-advisor at the U.S. Customs and Border Protection Office of Trade, Regulations and Rulings Directorate. 

He earned his J.D. from The Catholic University of America, Columbus School of Law, where he served an associate and executive editor of the Journal of Law and Technology and a research assistant and member of the international law student association. During law school, he was a U.S. Department of Commerce Office of the Chief Counsel for Industry and Security law intern. He received a B.A. in political science and minor in economics from the University of Mary Washington.
